Microsoft has launched Picture-in-Picture (PiP) Mode with Windows 10 and the feature is also available in Windows 11 too. The feature allows users to play videos in the overlay window on any screen. You can watch your favorite video while working using Picture-in-Picture mode in Windows 11.

It is very difficult to switch between different tabs to watch videos while working. Using Picture-in-Picture mode, you can increase your productivity while watching a video and studying. It is an advanced level of multi-tasking.

You can play a video in the background and watch it with the small Picture-in-Picture (PiP) Mode on your screen. Here is how you can enable this Picture-in-Picture mode on your Windows 11.

How to Enable Picture-in-Picture (PiP) Mode for Videos in Windows 11

Let’s first talk about how you can enable Picture-in-Picture mode for the Video player in Windows 11.

Method 1: Viewing Videos in Picture-in-Picture Mode

If you are watching videos on your video player then here are the easiest way to enable Picture in Picture mode.

Step 1: First go to the folder where your video or movie is stored. Then right-click on it and then choose the Open with option.

Step 2: Then select Movie and TV.

Step 3:  When the video opens, find and then click on the option called Play in mini-view on the bottom right side.

Step 4: When you click on this option, your video player screen will turn into a mini window screen and set on top of the desktop.

Step 5: Now when you open any other app or browser, this mini window screen will be there on the top of your screen so that you can view it.

Method  2: Using PiP Mode for Chrome Videos

Today, most browsers have this Picture-in-Picture mode but still many browsers like Chrome needs extensions to enable this mode. Here is how you can enable Picture-in-Picture mode in the browser in Windows 11.

Step 1: Open your Chrome browser and then go to chrome.google.com/webstore address.

Step 2: In the Webstore, search for Picture in picture and then press enter.

Step 3: Find and then choose Floating Player – Picture-in-Picture Mode plugin and install it.

Step 4: To download and install it, click on Add to button and wait for some time.

Once installed, you will see the extension besides the URL bar. You can access it from the URL bar.

Step 5: Start your video in your browser and then click on the icon you downloaded to enable Picture-in-Picture mode for that video.

Now you can enjoy your video on a mini screen.
