How to Open Task Manager in Windows 11

Task Manager is a very useful tool for managing apps, processes, and services on Windows OS. With the launch of the new Windows 11, Microsoft has added new features to the task manager. You can manage different tasks and services using task managers in Windows OS. There are multiple ways to access the task manager tools on Windows.

Different ways to Open Task Manager in Windows 11

To use the Task Manager, you must first know how to open it. This post shows you how to run it on Windows 11 or Windows 10. Let’s get started with a simple way to launch the Task Manager:

1. Use the Ctrl + Shift + Esc Shortcut

Just like Windows 7, 8, and 10, you can use the same Ctrl + Shift + Esc key combination to directly open the task manager.

Step 1:  To do this, just press Ctrl + Shift + Esc at the same time and the task manager will open.

This is the fastest and easiest way to open it.

2. Use the Ctrl + Alt + Del keyboard shortcut

Step 1: There is another way to open task manager with a key combination and that is using Ctrl + Alt + Del.

Step 2: Press Ctrl + Alt + Del key at the same time on your keyboard and a new window will open instantly.

3. Use Win+X power user menu

You can use the Winx menu to open task manager in Windows 11. WinX menu is launched with Windows 10 to access settings very quickly.

To access the WinX menu, follow these steps:

Step 1: First open the power user menu also called the WinX menu using the Windows + X button on your keyboard.

Step 2: From the list of all options, find and click on task manager.

If you are using a touch screen laptop then right-click on the start menu with a long press on it and then select the task manager.

4. Use Start Menu to open the Task Manager

You can open task manager using the start menu too. Yes, the start menu has all the options to access every tool of Windows OS. Just follow these steps:

Step 1: First of all open the start menu with the Windows button on your keyboard or just click on the start menu button in the taskbar.

Step 2: Search for Task Manager and select the task manager from the list.

You can also find it in the Windows System folder. (Windows 10)

Just open the start menu and scroll down. Find the Windows System folder and expand it.

You will see the task manager tool there.

5. Open Task Manager from Windows Tools

You can use Windows tools to open task managers. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Open the start menu with the Windows button 0n your keyboard or click on the start button 0n your keyboard.

Step 2: Then find and click on the All Apps button in the upper right side corner.

Step 4: Click on Windows tools to open it.

Step 5: Find the task manager in the list and open it using a double click or just click on it.

6. Open Task Manager using Control Panel

If you are familiar with the control panel then you can directly access the task manager from it. As we know control panel has all the options to manage and edit Windows files and settings. So you can access the task manager tool using it.

Step 1: Open the control panel. To do this, open the start menu with the start button on your keyboard and then search for the control panel.

Step 2: From the list, click on the control panel.

You can also open the control panel using the Run command tool.

Press Windows + R to open the Run tool and then search for control and press enter.

Step 3: Now in the control panel, search for task manager in the search bar located in the right upper corner.

Step 4: Find and click on the task manager from the result. You can also choose the View system resource usage in the Task Manager option.

7. Use the search to start the Task Manager

Microsoft launched a new search menu with Windows 10. The new Windows 11 search tool is very advanced and accurate. You can use Windows 11 search to open any app in Windows 10 and 11.

Here are the steps:

Step 1: Open the Windows search tool using Windows + S on your keyboard.

Step 2: Then in the search area, type task manager.

Step 3: Find and click on the taste manager to open it.

8. Run the Taskmgr.exe File

You can make your own executable file and run it to open any Windows app directly.

You can open task manager with this executable file called Taskmgr.exe.

You can find this Taskmgr.exe file in the C:\Windows\System32 folder.

Step 1: Open Windows Explorer with Windows + E key on your keyboard.

Step 2: Now in the address bar, type this path and press enter.

Step 3: Now find Taskmgr.exe from the list of all files and double-click on it to open it.

You can make a shortcut of the Taskmgr.exe file on your desktop to directly open it.

9. Use a desktop shortcut for Task Manager

As mentioned earlier, you can create a task manager shortcut on your desktop. To do this, follow these steps:

Step 1: Right-click on your desktop and then choose new from the list.

Step 2: Then select the new shortcut option from the list.

Step 3: Now you have to mention the path for the app to make a shortcut. Enter this path and then click on next.

Step 4: Name it whatever you want. The new task manager icon shortcut will be created on your desktop, now you can directly access it from your desktop.

10. Use the taskbar quick options

When you click on the taskbar, you will see different options. You can directly open task manager with this option.

Step 1: Right-click on your taskbar and then choose task manager.

If you are using Windows 11, you noticed that the option is now removed. So can’t use it.

11. Open Task Manager with command in Terminal

If you are familiar with the command prompt or terminal in Windows then you can use it to open task manager. Here is how:

Step 1: Open the start menu with the start button on your keyboard.

Step 2: Then search for CMD or PowerShell and then click on it from the result.

Step 3: Type taskmgr in the CMD window and then press enter.

12. Run the taskmgr command in the Run window

You can also open task manager with the Run command tool.

Step 1: First of all open run with Windows + R key on your keyboard.

Step 2: In Run, type taskmgr and then press enter to open task manager in Windows 11.

13. Run the taskmgr command in File Explorer

You can also access task manager using file explorer in Windows 11. To do this, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open file explore with Windows + E button on your keyboard,

Step 2: Type taskmgr in the address bar and then press enter to open task manager in Windows 11.
