The goo recipe in Enshrouded unlocks when you craft bug dust, but you’ll need to recruit the Alchemist and build his mortar first. Getting there takes a few steps, including hunting critters for materials.
How to unlock the goo crafting recipe in Enshrouded
You’ll need 15 goo to strengthen your flame to level 4. Strengthening the flame increases your attributes and lets you spend more time in the Shroud. Goo also goes into the Adventurer’s Trousers, the Healing Tunic, and various spells.
Start by unlocking Balthazar, the Alchemist. His Ancient Vault is northwest of the Cinder Vault and directly west of the Ancient Spire in the Springlands. Once you’ve unlocked him, return to your base and use the Summoning Staff as usual to summon him.
Next, follow Balthazar’s quests until you’ve built the mortar at the end of “The Alchemist’s Mortar.” The mortar lets you craft bug dust, which you’ll need to unlock the goo recipe.
Each bug dust requires one critter part. Kill the blue beetles in the Shroud and collect their drops to get this ingredient. Craft some bug dust using the mortar, and the goo recipe will unlock immediately. Recruiting Balthazar alone isn’t enough; crafting bug dust is the trigger.
How to make goo in Enshrouded
With the recipe unlocked, you can craft goo at the Alchemist using these ingredients:
- 1 Springlands dirt
- 2 Shroud mushrooms
- 1 Bug dust
To gather Springlands dirt, equip a pickaxe and hit the ground anywhere in the Springlands, the game’s starting region. There’s no need to find a particular deposit.
