Click OK to close the application.” This error is majorly faced while installing a new program or when you are trying to access an Internet Browser but its affecting reach is far wide those two being the most common ones.

Ways to Fix 0xc0000005 Error on Windows 11 and 10

There are multiple ways in which you could resolve this issue. We will walk you through them.

Fix- 1: Fixing Registries

The registry is a very important part of your computer as it is the central database that the computer puts into use when it needs to read many different files and settings to run them. Registries can often be corrupted due to some damage caused by a file or for other reasons. Hence is it recommended to back up your registries and safeguard them. If you haven’t backed up your Registry, follow these steps to fix registries in order to resolve the error 0xc0000005.

Step – 1: Download registry cleaner online.

Step – 2: Install using the recommended settings then open the software after the installation process is finished.

Step – 3: Once opened, click on “Registries” and follow it by clicking “Scan for Issues”. The program will search for bugs and issues. Then a “Fix the Selected Issues” button will show up, click on it, and there…you are done.

Fix- 2: Checking for Windows Updates

Through times we have seen that more often than not, the Microsoft team acknowledges the faults and issues and brings in a Windows update to fix bugs. Sometimes it’s a big update while other times it’s just a patch that needs to be downloaded but that does the trick.

Step – 1: To open Windows settings, press “Windows’ + “I”.

Fix- 3: Run SFC (System File Checker)

This scans and fixes all issues that are possible.

Step – 1: Open Command Prompt from the windows option on the bottom left of the screen with the administrative rights.

Step – 2: In the cmd window type the following command and press enter –

“sfc /scannow”

Step – 3: Halt for the System File Checker to finish and that should resolve your issue.

Fix – 4: Fix BCD

This is quite a risky method and while we don’t strongly suggest this, there are users whose problem was solved after following the steps.

Step 1: Type cmd in the start menu > right-click on Command Prompt and then choose Run as Administrator.

Step – 2: Type “bcdedit” and press enter. You might have to remove some files if theWindows Boot Loader Path is xOsload.exe. This can be easily seen from the Path field.

Step – 3: Once that is done, execute the commands written below and make sure you press the enter key after each command and continue it even if it shows an error there.

Del D:\Windows\System32\xOsload.exe

Del D:\Windows\System32\xNtKrnl.exe

Del D:\Windows\System32\Drivers\oem-drv64.sys

attrib c:\boot\bcd -h -r -s

ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old

bootrec /rebuildbcd

Fix- 5: Bad RAM memory

A faulty RAM memory could cause a lot of troublesome issues, this being one of it. You could just remove the recently added memory to your RAM and then try and find out if the error still persists. Though we suggest you take the following steps before doing so –

Step – 1: Power off your computer and detach it from all the cables.

Step – 2: Remove your Battery if you are using a laptop.

Step – 3: Ground yourself before you lay a finger on the memory.

Fix- 6: Restore the Computer

If the issue has recently appeared and somehow keeps appearing when you are doing someone single thing, it could be due to a wrongful installation or a faulty driver. It could also be because of some unidentified misleading application that you recently installed. These steps are to ensure you get your previous safe and compatible version of the computer back.

Step – 1: To open the Run prompt press “Windows” + “R”.

Step – 2: In the given space, type “rstrui” and hit enter. This will open the restore management window.

Step – 3: In the opened tab, first press “Next” followed by the “Show More Restore Points” option.

Step – 4: If you know the date from which the issue started, select the point of restore from a date before it, and if you don’t know the date make an approximation.

Step – 5: Click “Next” and keep following the on-screen instructions till it does not revert you back to your selected date. Once the restore is done, restart your computer and check to see if the issue is eradicated.

These are some of the ways which should help you remove the Error 0xc0000005 on Windows 10. There are many more ways in which you could take help of external softwares or download patches and even at times make a hard format but these are the simpler ones. The issue should it be a minor one be exterminated.
