Fitbit Air Pricing and Features
Google launched the screen-less Fitbit Air fitness tracker in India on Wednesday, priced at ₹13,999 (approximately $146), compared to its U.S. price of $99.
Unveiled in May, the Fitbit Air boasts a range of health and fitness tracking features, including:
- 24/7 heart rate monitoring
- Heart rhythm monitoring with A-fib (atrial fibrillation) alerts
- Blood oxygen level monitoring
- Resting heart rate monitoring
- Heart rate variability monitoring
- Sleep stages tracking
- Sleep duration tracking
The screen-less design caters to the growing trend of distraction-free health gadgets. Users are increasingly opting for devices like Whoop’s fitness bands and Oura’s rings, and the Fitbit Air offers a more affordable choice in this space.
In a competitive market, screen-less devices are gaining traction. Alongside Fitbit, notable competitors include Garmin and Luffu Link, the latter founded by Fitbit’s creators, as well as Indian startups like Noise and Urban, which aim to provide lower-priced alternatives.
Despite this trend, research firm IDC notes that the wristband market is declining, though screen-less trackers are carving out their niche. Currently, India accounts for only 5% of the screen-less wearable market, according to Counterpoint Research. With its premium pricing, the Fitbit Air may face challenges in achieving significant market share, even with the backing of a well-known brand like Fitbit or Google.
The Fitbit Air will be available for purchase starting October 2 through the Google Store and other retail partners, including Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales. Additionally, Google is offering a free, three-month subscription to Google Health premium with the purchase of the new band.
