Pinterest on Tuesday introduced a new feature that leverages AI to act on your saved inspiration from beauty-related Pins, such as hair and nail ideas, turning them into actionable plans for your salon visit.
Called “Beauty Guides,” this feature utilizes the company’s visual intelligence and generative AI technology, Pinterest Intelligence, to translate Pins into terminology used by stylists and nail artists that everyday users may not know, including terms like “balayage,” “root melt,” or “almond nails.”
This feature provides a practical way to incorporate AI into users’ daily routines, fitting seamlessly into what many already do: bringing photos of inspiration to the salon. Having the right terminology available can be helpful when discussing which aspects of the look you want to edit or change.
Additionally, the guides provide useful information for planning your visit, including the time each part of the process may take and the associated costs. Balayage goes into the hundreds of dollars, so knowing the cost upfront is genuinely useful.
The action guides will appear when you tap on the “Get the Guide” button within the app, offering details on what to specifically request to achieve the desired look, including the time it takes, price range, and maintenance requirements, such as how often to trim, tone, or touch up.
At launch, the feature will work across Pins related to hairstyle, color, nail shape, and finish.
