Samsung’s Galaxy AI has been capturing the attention of tech enthusiasts since its introduction with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series in January. Key features like Circle to Search and Live Translate have set new standards for what users expect from their devices.
Recently, Samsung confirmed that these AI capabilities would not be confined to their latest flagship but would also enhance the experience on older models such as the Galaxy S23 series and the Tab S9, as well as the innovative Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5. This initiative demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to bringing cutting-edge technology to a broader user base.
Adding to the buzz, Samsung announced in a recent press release that eight additional devices will join the Galaxy AI family. This rollout is part of the One UI 6.1 update and includes popular models like the Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, and the Tab S8 series.
Alongside Circle to Search and Live Translate, these devices will receive features such as Chat Assist, Interpreter, Note Assist, and even AI-generated Wallpapers, enriching the functionality of already sophisticated devices. However, it’s noteworthy that the Instant Slow-Mo feature, a highlight on the newer S24 and S23 models, won’t be available on these older devices, as pointed out by The Verge.
These updates will start hitting their devices in early May. This expansion extends the lifecycle of older devices and ensures that more Samsung users can enjoy the latest innovations without needing to upgrade to the newest models.
For those interested in the impact of these updates on user experience, Samsung hints that this might be the beginning. As the AI capabilities evolve, they may become a staple in future devices across the Samsung lineup. Meanwhile, you might want to keep an eye on the financial implications, as premium features like these could eventually come at a cost.
