In a post on Threads, Robb explained that he let the AI manage his Facebook Marketplace account while trying to sell a keyboard. Instead of saving him time, Muse accepted a lowball offer and shared his home address with the buyer, all without notifying Robb until it was too late.
Robb revealed that the buyer, who introduced himself as Usman, arrived at his apartment building around 9:15 AM, ready to finalize the purchase. Unfortunately, Robb never met Usman; by 9:38 AM, the buyer left in frustration after waiting and receiving no communication from Robb. An auto-reply from the AI went out to Usman at 9:27 AM, misleading him into thinking Robb was available. This chain of events left Usman angry and resulted in a negative rating for Robb.
Frustrated with Muse’s actions, Robb remarked, “You gotta never do that ever again.” The AI offered a standard apology, stating, “You’re right, and I’m sorry.” If Robb is telling the truth here, this incident is a textbook example of how AI agents can go wrong. Meta has contacted Robb regarding the incident, indicating they are taking his complaint seriously. Robb warned about the risks of AI agents, saying, “AI agents are impressive right up until they’re confidently handing strangers your address. Be careful.”
