LEGO is opening an official LEGO Ideas challenge that lets fans combine Star Wars and Marvel in the same build for the first time. Participants can design a crossover around one of three themes: vehicles, characters or scenes.
Builders will need to review the rules and guidelines before submitting. The challenge is available at https://ideas.lego.com/challenges, with guidelines at https://ideas.lego.com/rules-guidelines. Submissions are open now. Voting begins on December 8, and grand-prize selections will be announced in 2027.
“We know our fans never stop imagining new ways to bring their favourite worlds together, and we’re excited to see the originality, passion and innovation they bring to this unique crossover,” said LEGO’s senior vice-president, Fede Begher.
The building challenge arrives ahead of Star Wars x Marvel: Hope Assembles, a new special-edition comic book series launching in January. Written by Kevin Smith and illustrated by David Marquez, the six-book series will bring Marvel’s prime universe, Earth-616, together with Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
At the series announcement at New York Comic Con, Smith expressed excitement about delivering the crossover fans had been longing for. The comics give Marvel and Star Wars a specific meeting point, while the LEGO challenge leaves participants to imagine their own encounters in bricks.
The project’s timing also ties into a franchise milestone: 2027 marks Star Wars’ 50th anniversary following its debut in 1977. Its reach now spans films, television, books, games and collectibles. The LEGO challenge gives fans a hands-on way to mark that history by building a crossover rather than only reading one.
For builders planning an entry, the next step is to check the official challenge brief and submission rules before choosing which of the three themes their Marvel and Star Wars mash-up will follow.
