Fortnite’s new posters in Madrid feature anime-style characters and pirate imagery, but no recognizable One Piece faces. That points toward an original, anime-styled pirate mini-season rather than one built around Eiichiro Oda’s best-selling manga and anime series. A collaboration is still possible. These teasers just don’t confirm one.
The posters began appearing in Madrid’s subway as early as Oct. 20. They feature what appear to be generic cel-shaded anime skins created by Epic Games. One pairs a black-haired character with a treasure map and the caption “Have you seen the treasure?” The other shows a turquoise-haired character, previously spotted in a skin survey, before cutting to an image of sand bearing the words “Join the hunt.” Both carry Fortnite’s pirate llama logo.
Those details suggest a treasure hunt, but they’re less specific than the rumors that came before them. One Piece had been the leading contender in speculation about the upcoming mini-season, with a mysterious pirate chest fueling fans’ hopes. The giant treasure chest was hacked into the island and has begun to debug over the past few days, gradually revealing its appearance. With Nov. 1 approaching, that in-game teaser and the subway ads are starting to reveal the next season’s theme.
The end of Chapter 7 Season 4 is on the horizon. Fortnite is celebrating Halloween throughout October, and its Fortnitemares event will finish in the early hours of Nov. 1, alongside the season. The annual mini-season will then let players transition smoothly into Chapter 8.
For anyone expecting Luffy and crew to headline that transition, the lack of recognizable One Piece characters is a reason to temper expectations, not proof that a deal is off the table. The posters make a full crossover season look less likely, though a collaboration remains possible. Another possibility is a pirate season along the lines of Chapter 1 Season 8, which used the slogan “X marks the spot.”
The Madrid posters give the treasure hunt a slogan and a pirate llama logo, but no recognizable One Piece faces. That’s the gap between the teasers and the rumors: the pirate imagery is there; the crossover confirmation isn’t.
