Founder Eugenia Kuyda, known for her work with the AI companion startup Replika, describes this new version as Wabi 2.0–a “personal agent that does stuff for you and builds the interface you need in the moment.” This evolution emphasizes a more integrated approach, blending messaging with productivity, which appeals to users seeking more than just a linear interaction with AI.
Wabi 2.0 aims to compete with AI agents that merge conversational abilities with productivity tasks. Kuyda highlights that users want an experience that goes beyond simply typing commands into a chat interface. She states, “The more you use a chat-only agent, the worse the experience gets. Your history and ongoing tasks end up buried in one endless scroll.” Instead, users prefer engaging with the software through various actions like tapping and scrolling, making the interaction more dynamic and visually appealing.
This new functionality allows Wabi to create customized user interfaces on demand as users request different tasks. For instance, users might generate a calorie tracker, a weightlifting log, or a weight tracker that are easily accessible within health-related topics.
Kuyda points out, “So far, personal agents have been one person, one chat, a stream of one-off tasks. We think the future is your agent, your apps, and your people in one place, running the parts of life that matter most, together.” This vision captures a future where users can manage various aspects of their lives through a single interface that supports both communication and functional tasks.
The Wabi 2.0 app is currently invite-only, with access codes being distributed via X (formerly Twitter).
