Mega Mewtwo X ex will be both Psychic- and Fighting-type in Pokémon TCG Pocket when Dual Fusion arrives on Oct. 28 at 6:00 p.m. The Pokémon Company’s newly announced expansion introduces the mobile game’s first dual-type cards. No time zone was specified for the release.
These cards give a Pokémon two types instead of one. Dual-type cards already exist in the physical Pokémon Trading Card Game, but Dual Fusion brings them to Pocket for the first time. Mega Mewtwo X ex is one example, though the announcement doesn’t establish how much these cards will affect competitive play. The dual-type cards also come with new illustrations.
Dual Fusion lands alongside Pocket’s second anniversary, and an anniversary event runs from the expansion’s release until Dec. 14. During the campaign, players will receive a ticket they can exchange for a booster pack guaranteed to include a two-star card. Starting on Dec. 15, players can also rent six Dual Fusion decks to test the new cards.
Two more events are on the way, and the first starts before the expansion does. Pika Pika! Pikachu Missions starts on Oct. 20, 2026, and runs for one year to celebrate 30 years of the Pokémon TCG. Players who log in for 10 days during the event can obtain a special Pikachu ex immersive card, available only during that event. Pika Pika! Pikachu packs and accessories will also be available.
Special Pack: First Partners follows on Oct. 31 and runs until Dec. 26. Opening these packs requires special pack stamina, which recovers once a week. Every pack is guaranteed to contain a one-star card, with cards depicting the first partner Pokémon encountered in each of the Pokémon world’s nine regions. The weekly stamina recovery puts these packs on a different opening schedule from the anniversary campaign’s ticket-based booster reward.
