The Writers Guild of America’s online directory now lists staff for season 4 of Netflix’s live-action One Piece with a “2027-2028” date, suggesting the Straw Hats could return as early as 2027. Netflix hasn’t confirmed a fourth season, and the listing isn’t an official release announcement.
The WGA entry follows an apparent production leak in September 2026. According to OtakuKart, an organizer of The One Con, a convention taking place in Paris in November 2026, shared a message suggesting the cast would reunite to film a new season in December 2026. The message appeared to reveal the schedule accidentally, but it did not confirm a production date.
Season 3 officially finished filming on June 30, 2026, and is slated for release in 2027, as reported by Polygon. Season 2 debuted in March 2026. Polygon’s Francesco Cacciatore considers the possible season 4 window consistent with the gap between seasons 2 and 3. He also sees the WGA listing as apparent corroboration of the earlier leak, while stressing that Netflix has made no confirming statement.
The adaptation debuted in 2023 and quickly became one of Netflix’s most-watched shows, according to Polygon. Cacciatore argues that One Piece overcame the perception that it, like many manga and anime series, would be impossible to adapt. In his assessment, it demonstrated that Luffy and the Straw Hats’ story could connect with audiences across different formats.
Season 2 brought the crew to the Grand Line, described as “the world’s most dangerous sea,” where they faced new enemies and challenges and recruited Tony Tony Chopper, the adorable reindeer doctor played by Mikaela Hoover. They also helped Vivi, played by Charithra Chandran, the princess of Alabasta who is trying to free her country from the villainous Baroque Works and its leader, Mr. Crocodile, played by Joe Manganiello. In season 3, Luffy, played by Iñaki Godoy, and the rest of the crew will go to war for their new friend and her kingdom.
If season 3 adapts the manga’s entire Alabasta Arc, a fourth season could take the Straw Hats to Jaya and an island in the sky, an adventure Cacciatore describes as their most fantastic yet. That storyline and the suggested release window remain conditional. The next step to watch for is Netflix confirming whether season 4 is going ahead and when it will arrive.
