The ‘Baywatch’ Reboot Trailer Delivers All the Slow-Mo You Could Want

Fox’s Baywatch reboot trailer brings red swimsuits, beach rescues and lifeguards racing in slow motion, as Stephen Amell leads the team into action.

Fox’s first full trailer for its “Baywatch” reboot follows the original show’s playbook, with red swimsuits, beach rescues, high drama and lifeguards racing in slow motion. In one plot, a plane goes down in the water, and the team heads to the ocean floor to save its pilot.

Stephen Amell plays Hobie Buchannon, son of David Hasselhoff’s character from the original series. As captain of the Baywatch lifeguards, Hobie is responsible for protecting the beach while coping with the unexpected arrival of his estranged daughter, Charlie Vale (Jessica Belkin). The trailer includes a burning beach, a major explosion and the cast running in slow motion. Musician Megan Thee Stallion also appears briefly. She was spotted filming for the series earlier this year.

The original “Baywatch,” with Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, premiered in 1989. Guinness World Records calls it the most-watched television series of all time. The show lasted 11 seasons and led to the short-lived spin-off “Baywatch Hawaii.” A film reboot starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron turned the story into a comedy and received negative reactions.

Hassie Harrison, Shay Mitchell, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck, Livvy Dunne and Brooks Nader are also in the cast. David Chokachi, a star of the original series, is set to appear in a recurring role. Fox and Fremantle are producing the show, with Matt Nix, known for “Burn Notice,” serving as showrunner and executive producer. The series is scheduled to premiere in January 2027.
