Bramblin is available from Incense during Pokémon Go’s “Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek,” but evolving it takes more than Candy. You’ll need 50 Bramblin Candy and 20 km walked with Bramblin as your buddy. The event runs Oct. 13-19 and also brings Super Max Manectric to the game.
For the first time, Manectric can reach Super Max Level, the fourth tier. Mega Manectric will also know Discharge+ when Mega Evolved, regardless of its level.
You can encounter Bramblin through Incense, as a reward at Go Pass ranks 30 and 60, or by completing the Field Research task “Earn a candy exploring with your buddy.” The deluxe Go Pass adds an encounter at both ranks. Bramblin cannot be shiny yet.
The Go Pass has 30 ranks and 30 bonus ranks. Earn progress by winning raids, catching Pokémon, and hatching eggs. Two daily tasks award 50 points each: use an Incense and explore 1 km. Complete both to earn enough points for one full rank.
Two Go Pass milestones unlock event bonuses. Rank 10 grants double Incense duration. Rank 20 gives you five times the Mega Energy from exploring with Electrike or Manectric as your buddy, provided you’ve Mega Evolved Manectric at least once.
The event’s Timed Research has a separate walking goal: complete all four distances before the event ends to earn an encounter with a marathon-visor Pikachu. The tasks are to explore 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km. Each awards 4,200 XP.
Spinning PokéStops during the event may also give you Field Research. The task “Earn a candy exploring with your buddy” rewards an Electrike or Bramblin encounter. Exploring 1 km can reward an encounter with Doduo, Cacnea, or Electrike. Exploring 3 km or spinning a PokéStop you haven’t visited before can reward either 25 Manectric Mega Energy or one Rare Candy.
In the wild, Ponyta, Doduo, Electrike, Skarmory, and Blitzle will appear more often. Incense spawns rotate by date: Galarian Ponyta, Hoppip, and Dwebble are available Oct. 13-16, while Hisuian Growlithe, Nincada, and Helioptile appear Oct. 16-19. Electrike and Bramblin can spawn from Incense throughout the event. The event also increases the chance of finding shiny Electrike and shiny Hisuian Growlithe in the wild.
If you’re aiming to evolve Bramblin, plan for the 20 km buddy walk and collect 50 Candy. The 42 km Timed Research is a separate challenge, and the rotating Incense spawns make the dates useful if you’re looking for a particular Pokémon.
