Siri can now send audio requests to Spotify without users having to say “on Spotify.” Spotify said on Tuesday that the change applies to iPhones updated to iOS 27, as Siri learns which music app a user prefers.
Users can ask for a specific track, album, podcast, or audiobook, or make a broader request such as “play workout music.” They can also ask Siri to use a Spotify feature, such as “play my DJ.” Other voice commands include requesting personalized recommendations, resuming podcasts, searching a user’s library, and creating a Prompted Playlist with AI.
Spotify says dropping the app name will make hands-free listening feel more natural, letting users focus on what they want to hear rather than how to phrase a request. If someone consistently uses Spotify, Siri will automatically route their audio requests to it.
The feature is available globally outside the EU to users with an iPhone 15 Pro or later, provided Apple Intelligence is enabled in Settings.
