Apple’s new $299 Apple TV 4K uses three built-in far-field microphones to let you talk to Siri without a remote or paired HomePod. It also packs an upgraded A19 chip for AI features and integrates updated Siri AI for content discovery.
Siri AI is rolling out across Apple’s platforms, not just this new model. On Apple TV, viewers can ask, “Which Apple TV shows won at the Emmy Awards this year?” to search for content, or “Where was ‘Pluribus’ filmed?” to learn more about a show. Apple aims to use Siri for more personalized recommendations.
Apple says the new box can deliver four-speaker surround sound with HomePod mini 2 or HomePod 2 speakers. The remote now has a small speaker that can sound an alert when it’s lost in the couch or left in another room. Apple added a way to find the remote with Siri and Find My in 2023, but that feature showed directions in the app rather than playing a sound.
Apple updates the Apple TV 4K less often than some of its other hardware. This release arrives four years after the 2022 launch. Bloomberg reported that Apple had planned to launch the new device in 2024, but delays to the AI-powered Siri pushed back the launch of new home devices, too.
Preorders for the new Apple TV 4K start today, October 13, 2026. It will be available on November 13.
