Grave Seasons will launch on March 9, 2027. Perfect Garbage shared the date at Monday’s Cozy After Dark showcase, after the horror-themed farming sim was moved from its original August release window to an indefinite delay. The studio also showed autumn scenery, farmhouse customization, and how the story progresses.
Grave Seasons is built around stories rather than a list of goals. Each main story features one supernatural serial killer in a small village where the player character, a recently released convict, has settled quietly after prison. You can try to stop the killer, and the story plays out over one in-game year. At the end of that year, the monster’s tale concludes. You can then return to town for another round of murders, with your farm and decoration progress intact.
Narrative director Emmett Nahil presented a full set of gothic furniture for the farmhouse: plush red cushions, deep purple wallpaper, and heavy lampshades. Outside, the house has wine-red paint, dark wooden details, and a few well-placed trailing plants. Customization also applies to any building you work on. Nahil gave a brief look at a bright, airy chicken coop with draping vines and strands of lights.
Because each story covers only one in-game year, Nahil said the developers wanted the seasons to feel distinct. The autumn footage showed trees in rich, earthy colors, mushrooms growing in the woods, and fields full of autumnal bounty. While tilling, the farmer also unearthed a detached eyeball, which was presumably put there by someone else.
In fall, players can gather a range of deadly herbs and visit the Nocturne Faire, a festival marking the year’s decline. Stalls serve mulled wine and cider, and a kiosk offers an unsettling type of straw doll.
Nahil and Perfect Garbage co-founder Son M told Polygon in an earlier interview that the game is intended to challenge cozy gaming conventions, overturn familiar expectations, and make life’s darker side feel a little less intimidating.
Grave Seasons is set to arrive on March 9, 2027, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
