For instance, entering “baby” in the search will prompt the platform to suggest relevant filters like cribs or playgrounds. This thoughtful design aims to simplify the property discovery process.
Brian Chesky, Airbnb’s CEO, is approaching the rollout of AI features with care. He highlighted the challenge of developing effective AI search tools in an e-commerce environment where the company processes around $100 billion. Chesky remarked, “Anyone can vibe-code a search function, but to do something that doesn’t kill conversion rate, that’s the hard part.” This emphasizes the need to balance innovation with user engagement.
Additionally, Airbnb is enhancing its social features to encourage travelers to embark on more trips and book diverse experiences, such as food tastings and craft workshops. Last year, the app introduced a way for users to connect with fellow travelers, and now it has added a feature that allows users to view a map showing their connections’ past or upcoming trips. By tapping on a trip, users can see exactly where their friends stayed and what activities they engaged in.
