Skype has released a new updated version for Windows users- Skype 5.0 Beta. This new version will allow users to make group video calls with up to 10 peoples. This is more like a post Google voice reaction from Skype. You can easily make free calls to US and Canada with Google voice service. It is integrated in the Gmail (currently available in US only).

This new Skype Version is also released with a new look and design.This new Skype 5.0 beta is released with major improved features.

Skype’s Peter Parkes writes, “You’ll notice that the new-look Skype is sleeker, neater and crisper than before, and we’re proud of the work our interface designers have done to refine and mature the interface for this version. We’ve also added Skype Home, where you can follow your contacts’ mood messages, set your profile picture and mood message, receive account notifications and learn more about using Skype”.

The extra added features in Skype 5.0 Beta are:

• 10-way group video calling.
• Skype Home experience.
• Offline instant messaging.
• New contact search and add experience.

In addition to above features, new Skype also offers facilities like, network re-establishment when call-drops and automatically  redials that call/number, notification for potential  issues with your connection and how to improve it. Apple’s September 1 Event was full of new releases including Ping (social network), ipod nano, apple TV, iPod Touch 4 and a Sneak peak of its upcoming iOS 4.2 for iPad.

This new update will upgrade the iPad to use apps previously available for iPhone iOS 4.0, including various bug fixation, better audio and video streaming with Airplay, wireless printing support and many more…

But for users to get this new iOS 4.2 update on their iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch have to wait till November. Until then users have to be happy with iOS 4.1 upgrade only. This new upgrade is promoting Apple’s iPad as a lightweight and functional business alternative mainly for companies to handle their customers and staffs using its touchscreen facility.

Apple is ready to gain its lost popularity by releasing its new iOS 4.2 for iPad/iPhone/iPod before HP’s WebOS 2.0 for tablets which is in releasing in 2011 and other Android products coming next year.

Facebook rolled out a new security feature that will let user to logout remotely from a particular device. This new security feature is called “Remote Logout”. It happens sometime, that anyone may have logged in some public computer,and accidentally walked out without logging out, his facebook session will be still active. But now facebook’s new feature will let them to log out from that particular device remotely from any location (this same feature is offered by Gmail as well).

How to activate Facebook Remote Logout feature

• To activate this Remote Logout feature, Go to “Account Settings” on your Facebook page.
• Click on “change” option next to “Account Security.” There, you’ll see “Login Notifications”, Click it “on” and hit the “Save” button.
• And from now you will be able to see where else your Facebook account is logged in, including the type of device,browser, operating system along with its location based on IP address.
• To log out of any of them, click “End Activity” button.

“Control isn’t just about deciding what you share and with whom you share it; it’s also about being able to keep your Facebook login secure,” Facebook said.

Ping is a music social network which makes it different from Facebook or Twitter.

Now Apple has Officially announced that the Live event will be streaming today online at Apple.com, at 10:00 AM Pacific/1:00 PM Eastern zones. “Apple will broadcast its September 1 event online using Apple’s industry-leading HTTP Live Streaming, which is based on open standards,” the company says.

They also make an announcement that, “This broadcast is a proprietary right of Apple and is protected by US patent law and international treaties and any violation of the law like reproduction or distribution is strictly prohibited without prior approval from Apple”.

According to Wall Street journal, FOX News and ABC TV will announce 99-cent rentals of TV shows through iTunes store.Now people have to pay only $1.99 or $2.99 for each episode.

According to Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Apple is going to release a set-top box for streaming video that will include Netflix programs to its list and a new version of Apple TV that will cost $99. They  also said that, Apple will release a modified and updated version of iPod Touch with higher screen resolution(may be with a camera) and a new version of iTunes.

MySpace, one of Facebook’s biggest contender, which was the former ruler of social networking sites, has put their first step towards friendship with Facebook and why not Facebook tops the list in World’s Social networking Sites.
