Google chrome web browser has got a lethal weapon(add on, extension) to its weapon repository now. Greasemoneky is one of the most popular add-ons that was only available for Firefox web browser, is now available for Google chrome web browser as well. Greasemonkey is an add-on/extension that lets you install the user script in the Firefox as well as Google chrome web browser.

Greasemonkey add-on was developed in 2004 which gained a lot of popularity in no time. Now Google chrome browser lover can install over 40,000 user scripts available at userscripts.org.  These userscripts are written in Javascript which manipulates web content using DOM model. These changes are permanently as long as the script is installed. It is also known as augmented browsing.

It means that you have a huge collection of 40,000 extensions to use with Google chrome browser. One can easily create his own Greasemonkey userscript with sound knowledge of JavaScript.

It is believed that 15-25% of Greasemonkey userscripts might not work with Google chrome browser as they are made to work with Firefox web browser. More support will be added soon.

It’s good to see Chrome add this. I love Greasemonkey, this is the utility I miss most as Firefox user. Now I have some reason to use Chrome again. :)
