What happens when you delete the file from USB? If you are one those who thinks that you have removed the files completely then think again. When you delete files from flash drive a small fragment of file remains of the flash drive which goes unnoticed until your geek friend shows you the hidden treasures.
It will be there until you remove them manually or format your flash drive completely. Those deleted files resides in special trash folder which is hidden from the normal users and takes up unnecessary space. Removing this files manually is often undesirable and not preferred.

Linux is the same. I wonder why it doesn’t just trash them like it does in windows.
Although yes I do need to format or encrypt your flash drive for the files to be permanently erased rather then location data being deleted.

I noticed that OSX moves the file on the USB drive to a hidden folder called “.Trashes” and won’t get rid of it until you empty the trash. I usually get annoyed and go to the command shell prompt and change directory to the directory usually called /Volumes/NO Name/ and use the command rm -rf ./.Trashes to get rid of the files.
