This method will help you to receive your favorite tweets via SMS. It is useful for Indian users only. Are you interested in getting your favorite twitter tweets via sms? My trial and error method helped me to receive my favorite tweets via sms. There are many twitter sms services available from where you can update your twitter easily (Upcoming post at techgenuine) but getting tweets is little bit difficult.
Airtel has recently released SMS service for their user. It does cost you few bucks. If you want to save few bucks then you can use Google SMS channel. You must be aware of Google SMS channel. This method is especially useful for Indian users where Google SMS channel is available to use at no cost.
Here I will mention about keyword search on twitter. As an example I have considered “SEO”, “Twitter Tools”, “iphone”, “ipod” keywords. Have a look at below URL. This is a feed URL of twitter search based on mentioned twitter
http://search.twitter.com/search.atom?q=iphone+OR+ipod+OR+seo
Add your favorite keywords according to your criteria like q=keyword1+OR+keyword2+OR+keyword and so on. Now go to Google SMS channel.
Twitter SMS service
You can skip this steps if you already have Google SMS channel available for your phone.
1. Go to Google SMS channel.
2. Enter your phone number to receive the message via SMS.
3. Enter PIN number you received to confirm the subscription.
Twitter SMS
You can start from this step if you already have SMS channel available.
4. Login into your account.
5. Now check on the right hand side and click on “Try now“.
6.Now in the new “Create SMS channel “Â enter your desired channel name.
7. Enter the description(optional). Decide the category and and location.
8.Click on radio button “RSS/Atom feed” and enter the URL given above i.e.
http://search.twitter.com/search.atom?q=iphone+OR+ipod+OR+seo
9. Select “Allow publishing by” “Only me”. “Who can subscribe” “By invitation only”.
That’s it you have created your subscription channel. Accept the terms and create you SMS channel. This is the simplest way to use Google SMS channel to receive your favorite tweets at no cost.

I am working on few other ways to receive SMS of the tweets via SMS for other country users as well. Hope this method helped you. If you face any problem then feel free to ask any question. Same way it is possible to use email service to receive twitter tweets. I will cover it very soon.

i get only one sms per day from this.. mostly his last tweet of the day…

I’m getting 10-15 tweets per day. Sometimes those messages are in some other languages too. Let me know if you need any help with it.

n then the next night again i get his last message which says good night
he has around 15-20 tweets daily… mostly comes online after 1AM IST! how can i get all of them in real time…??

It is easy. Go to http://listiti.com or this post and enter the twitter username of your choice. You can use the keyword if you are looking for twitter on particular keyword otherwise leave the field blank. You will get an hourly update via Gmail. You can use m3m.in or similar service to filter those Google mail to forward it to your mobile. If you need a further help then let me know. I’ll post a tutorial here.
