I’ve been working on my new wordpress theme for quite a long. I thought creating the theme is a simple task but it turned out to be a time consuming and tough task for me. Before mentioning the features I would like to thanks some of my friends who helped me to design this theme. Karthikeyan of Blogrpro really helped me to decide the right color for the theme with some suggestions. Adarsh, steppinout, hackminded, Animesh have also contributed a lot. My special thanx goes to toptut.com from where I got the topbonus theme and I have implemented many of it’s function in the current wordpress theme.
Features:
- Lightweight fixed width wordpress theme with 1column right sidebar, 3column widgetized footer.
- The loading time has improved a lot.
- Recent comments hacks without any plugin.
- Recent posts hack without any plugin.
- Random posts hack without any plugin.
- Social bookmarking hack without any plugin thanx to steppinout
- Few http request which helped me to achieve better speed.
I am still working on the theme. It is still in beta mode. Related posts hack based on tag and category is implemented as the comment template is not showing the comments related to the post.
Meanwhile we have achieved some personal milestones like 1000 comments and 1lakh alexa ranking. I’ve also applied to the Google adsense today hoping to get approved this time as I have finished six months of blogging.
Let me know if you have any suggestion regarding the new theme. Which theme do you like to see here (current theme or the previous swift theme)?
Ricky is currently pursuing Engineering in IT hub(India). He is a kind of person, who is very keen on learning new things on net such as blogging tutorials, make money online, SEO,blogging tips,wordpress theme customization and many more stuff which he has developed a lot interest towards it.
Hi, just to let you know that the comments area here is all yellow. It’s a bit hard to read what I’m typing as it’s yellow on white background.
I can honestly say that it’s not easy at all creating themes and having things work well. Well done Ricky and thanks to all that helped him.

Creating themes is a passion and at the end of the day the final product is definitely a reward for the blogger.

You are 100% right. Creating theme is a passion. I am very happy to see the result as I was tired of free themes.
Creating a theme is tough work. Power to you for taking on that challenge. I’m sure you’re learning a lot from it!
Also, one thing I’d like to see in a theme is the flexibility that Thesis has, which allows admins to choose number of columns and their widths. Another nice thing is to support a static page with a features box.

I learned a lot from the design. I’ve upcoming theme for my college website as well. To have a flexible theme like thesis framework is a really tough task and it requires a lot of knowledge(I am a new born kid in this field.lol).Thank you for your comment

Thank you for kind words. I was very confused with the color combination but my friend helped me a lot to decide the colors for the theme. Credit goes to Animesh, Adarsh for helping me out with footer design

Hi Ricky, this is my first time ever on your blog. One look at your ‘Recent Posts’ box and I said to myself I found another addition to my favorite blogs list.
I’m very interested in the area of making wordpress themes. As of now, I haven’t the requisite skills yet to make one from scratch. All I can do at the moment is edit my theme to my liking. I don’t mean just adding or removing some widgets. I actually know enough to make nasty changes in the index.php, single.php, functions.php etc. files. In my blog, I posted about a recent facelift I did to my blog. Although the look and structure sort of changed drastically, it was actually the same theme which I tweaked and experimented on until I got the look I like.
I hope to eventually find time to really start learning how to create my very own theme from scratch.
P.S. In #2 above, what do you mean ‘loading time has increased a lot’? Do you mean it has slowed down considerably? Or, did you mean loading time has improved a lot?

First of all thanx for your kind words. In step 2 I mean to say loading time has improved a lot(decreased comparatively). If you are good at editing and modifying it means that you are good to go as a designer. This theme is my first experiment. I need to learn photoshop to have an impressive design.
